(ITA) HAI MAI SENTITO PARLARE DELLA "DIGA DEL CHIEVO"?

All’apparenza sembra una semplice diga, ma quella del Chievo è un vero capolavoro di ingegneria idraulica, concepita ormai come un'opera dal valore storico-monumentale.

Accompagna infatti la storia della città da più di cento anni, scandendo costantemente lo scorrere del fiume Adige.

La Diga non solo fornisce energia rinnovabile ottenuta in modo sostenibile, ma rappresenta anche un punto di passaggio importante per pedoni, corridori e ciclisti.

Un pilastro portante nella vita quotidiana dei veronesi.

Progettata dall'ingegnere Gaetano Rubinelli per incrementare la portata del Canale Camuzzoni, la struttura alimentava le turbine della centrale idroelettrica di Tombetta.

Distrutta durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, riprese però la sua attività poco dopo, continuando così a contribuire allo sviluppo sostenibile della città.

Ancora oggi, l'impianto del Chievo soddisfa il fabbisogno energetico delle famiglie a zero emissioni.

È sorprendente pensare come un'infrastruttura possa supportare le necessità moderne della città, tutelando l’ambiente allo stesso tempo!

(ENG) HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE "CHIEVO DAM"?

At first glance, it may look like a simple dam, but the Chievo Dam (Diga del Chievo) is a true masterpiece of hydraulic engineering, now recognized as a historic landmark.

For over a century, it has been an integral part of Verona’s history, marking the steady flow of the Adige River.

The dam not only provides sustainably sourced renewable energy, but it also serves as a key crossing point for pedestrians, runners, and cyclists - a true cornerstone in the daily life of locals.

Designed by engineer Gaetano Rubinelli to boost the capacity of the Camuzzoni Canal, the structure originally powered the turbines of the Tombetta hydroelectric plant.

Destroyed during World War II, it was promptly rebuilt shortly after, continuing its contribution to the city's sustainable growth.

Today, the Chievo facility continues to meet the energy needs of local families with zero emissions.

It is remarkable how such an infrastructure can support modern urban needs while simultaneously protecting the environment!

(ITA) ENTRA A PARONA, BORGO ALLE PORTE DELLA VALPOLICELLA

Parona, attraversala e regalati uno scorcio di vita tipicamente veronese, preparandoti al grande rientro nella città dell’Amore.

Situata alle porte della Valpolicella, ha rivestito un ruolo fondamentale nel passato della città, specialmente nel Duecento, quando i commerci venivano intrattenuti prevalentemente attraverso le vie fluviali.

In questo pittoresco scorcio, che custodisce eleganti ville signorili e un acquedotto romano, si celebra ogni anno, il Mercoledì delle Ceneri, una delle ricorrenze popolari più autentiche e amate del panorama veronese: la Festa de la Renga.

Si tratta di una sagra particolarmente sentita, caratterizzata da spensieratezza, sorrisi e convivialitá.

La "Renga" (l'aringa sotto sale) era il cibo povero consumato dai pescatori che, risalendo l'Adige, facevano tappa a Parona.

I locandieri del luogo impararono a cucinarla, trasformando quello che era un semplice alimento di sostentamento in uno dei simboli più iconici della tradizione veronese.

Infine, in questo quartiere, è possibile ascoltare il suono delle tipiche campane veronesi, che risuonano dalla chiesa parrocchiale.

This picturesque corner, home to elegant stately villas and a Roman aqueduct, hosts one of Verona’s most genuine and beloved traditions every Ash Wednesday: the Festa de la Renga.

It is a deeply cherished festival, filled with lighthearted joy, smiles, and warm hospitality.

The "Renga" (salted herring) was originally a humble meal eaten by fishermen stopping in Parona as they sailed up the Adige River. Local innkeepers mastered its preparation, turning a simple staple into one of the most iconic symbols of Veronese tradition.

Finally, as you pass through this neighborhood, you might catch the sound of traditional Veronese bell ringing echoing from the parish church.
